DAF Introduces ‘Efficiency Champion’ Trucks for Maximum Fuel Savings
DAF is launching its most fuel-efficient tractors and rigids yet, now designated as ‘Efficiency Champions’—a special badge on the cab signifying optimal fuel use.
When the New Generation DAF trucks were introduced, they were already 10% more fuel-efficient than their predecessors. Now, with further innovations introduced last autumn, they deliver an additional 3% in fuel savings.
Key enhancements to the powertrain have played a crucial role in reducing fuel consumption. At the same time, standard features now include:
• Digital mirrors
• A full aerodynamics package
• Low rolling resistance tires
• Predictive cruise control
These upgrades not only improve fuel efficiency but also help cut CO2 emissions.
Every DAF tractor and rigid designed for long-haul transport will carry the Efficiency Champion badge—provided it meets the Class 3 requirements in the German Maut toll system.
To help customers configure their trucks for maximum efficiency, DAF dealers use the TOPEC program, demonstrating the impact of options like a faster rear axle ratio or smaller fuel tanks on fuel consumption and emissions.
Efficiency Pays Off
“An optimal specification and registration before July 1, 2025, will bring significant cost benefits under the German Maut system for the next six years,” says Bart Bosmans, Board Member at DAF Trucks responsible for Marketing & Sales.
“At DAF, we are constantly improving our trucks to make them as efficient as possible. The Efficiency Champions highlight just how important vehicle specifications are in achieving the lowest fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.”
